MSc in Agronomic Engineering

Objectives and Skills

The Master’s Degree in Agronomic Engineering aims to provide in-depth technical and scientific training and develop specific skills in areas of agronomy, which respond to concerns about sustainable food production, the health of farmers, consumers and the environment, the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition (DHANA), the maintenance of territories and the conservation of nature and landscape. The program focuses on learning around the analysis and development of sustainable agri-food systems, adjusted to today’s social, economic and environmental contexts, which allow the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is intended to develop and deepen previous knowledge, ensure technical and scientific capacity and autonomy in innovative problem solving, strengthen business, innovation and entrepreneurial skills.

The learning objectives of this Master’s programme focus on training individuals with qualifications to operate in the agronomic sector. The aim is to train individuals dedicated to the development of agronomy based on available technology, agroecological and socio-economic knowledge. It is intended that students develop the following knowledge, skills and competences:

  1. Mastery of the state of the art of agroecological technologies and knowledge necessary for the construction and management of sustainable and resource-efficient food and agricultural systems, enhancing the use of state-of-the-art intelligent systems (robotics, remote sensing, etc.);
  2. Ability to analyze the complexity of new technologies for food production, development and processing/preservation;
  3. Understanding of the principles of the circular economy and their application in the management of food and agricultural systems.
